25+1+1 minibus and 51+1 coach for groups. We are based in the province of Pistoia: no empty run to come and collect you. Written quote within 2 hours.
Pistoia is the one place where we have an advantage we do not have anywhere else: we live here. GiroMunna is based in Ponte Buggianese, half an hour from the centre of Pistoia, and we drive these roads every week — we do not study them on a map the night before.
In practice that means two things. First, the vehicle starts from here: there is no empty transfer from Florence or the coast to come and pick you up, and on a local trip that line matters. Second, we know how long a coach really takes to climb towards Abetone in winter, or to reach the centre on the day of the Giostra dell'Orso.
GiroMunna is a licensed NCC operator. We hire out coaches and minibuses with a driver: groups, not individual passengers, and vehicles of 25 and 51 seats, not cars.
Pistoia itself, or Pistoia as a base for Florence, Lucca, Siena and the coast. From here the whole of Tuscany is within reach.
Pistoia is the largest plant nursery district in Europe. Delegations, buyers, nursery visits and transfers to and from the trade fairs.
Spa town, conferences, groups staying in the hotels of Montecatini. It is the service we are asked for most often.
Skiers, sports groups, walkers. In winter the climb changes the timings: we work them out beforehand, not on the way.
Villas and farmhouses on the Pistoia hillside, with guests collected from several points and staggered runs home into the small hours.
Florence airport is forty-five minutes away, Pisa an hour and ten. We track the flight and wait if it is delayed, at no extra cost.
Mercedes-Benz in GiroMunna livery: air conditioning, fridge bar, sound system, reclining seats. Under eight metres: the right size for the mountain roads above Pistoia and for the farmhouses in the hills.
Mercedes-Benz Tourismo: air conditioning, reclining seats with footrests, fridge bar, on-board WC and wifi. For large groups on main roads.
The historic centre is a restricted traffic zone and tourist coaches do not go in. The reference point for coaches is Piazza San Francesco, which in Pistoia you will also hear called Piazza Mazzini: it is the same area. You get off there and walk into the centre on the flat — Piazza del Duomo is under ten minutes away.
It is also where the coach waits while the group is in the city, so on the way back you find the vehicle exactly where you left it — no moving about, no phone calls to work out where it went.
🚌 One thing that works in your favour in Pistoia: in the busier Tuscan cities — Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa — coaches pay to come in, and on a day trip that line is noticeable. In Pistoia, at present, there is no such charge. And if the day's route also takes in a city that does require a permit, we tell you before you set off and it appears in the quote at cost, not buried inside a round number.
Pistoia was Italian Capital of Culture in 2017, and it remains one of the least crowded art cities in Tuscany: you can take your time even in high season, which with a large group is no small thing.
The historic centre takes a couple of hours on foot: for a full day it is worth pairing it with something else, and from Pistoia there is plenty of choice.
| To | Approx. distance | Time by coach |
|---|---|---|
| Montecatini Terme | 15 km / 9 mi | 25 minutes |
| Collodi (Pinocchio park) | 25 km / 16 mi | 35 minutes |
| Vinci | 25 km / 16 mi | 40 minutes |
| Florence | 35 km / 22 mi | 50 minutes |
| Florence airport (FLR) | 30 km / 19 mi | 45 minutes |
| Lucca | 45 km / 28 mi | 50 minutes |
| Abetone | 50 km / 31 mi | 1 h 20 |
| Pisa and its airport (PSA) | 65 km / 40 mi | 1 h 10 |
The Abetone times are those of an ordinary day: with snow or chains it takes longer, and we say so in the quote rather than on the day.
Want to see how a day is built, hour by hour? We have put together four sample itineraries with real coach timings.
It depends on the hours, the distance, the vehicle and the season. In Pistoia and its province, though, there is one line others have and we do not: we do not charge a transfer to reach you, because we are already here. On a local trip that is the difference between one quote and another.
For a detailed look at what pushes a quote up or down, we have written a page on how the price is built.
Based in Ponte Buggianese, province of Pistoia. The vehicle leaves from here and comes back here: no empty miles to pass on to you.
We are not a booking desk reselling to third parties. The vehicle is ours and the person driving it answers for the day.
The climb to Abetone, the Valdinievole traffic in summer, the festival days. Things you learn by driving them.
A written quote, free and with no obligation, within two hours.
No. We hire out coaches and minibuses with a driver only, 25 and 51 seats. For a single passenger or a couple we are not the right service: we carry groups.
Yes, and with no transfer charge: Montecatini is twenty-five minutes from our base. It is one of the runs we do most often.
About fifty minutes for 35 kilometres, traffic permitting. Florence airport is closer still: forty-five minutes.
Yes. The timings change with snow and chains, and we allow for that when we write the programme, not on the day itself.
Yes, it is one of the things we are asked for most in this area: delegations and buyers to and from the airports, and tours of the nurseries across the plain. With a proper invoice and one single contact.
Tell us the dates, how many you are and where you are starting from. We send you the programme with timings and a written price, within two hours.
